Backflow Prevention Testing, Installation & Repairs

Backflow prevention is a crucial part of protecting the drinking water for the people of Australia. It stops the potential contamination of our water supply, by ensuring the flow of water is not reversed due to a change in pressure.

Depending on the property you own or occupy, having a backflow prevention device may be required by your local water authority legislation. If you do have a backflow prevention device installed, this must be tested regularly (usually annually) and maintained, to make sure no wear or damage causes the device to fail.

It’s your responsibility to ensure you are compliant and protecting the well-being of the community by having your property risk assessed and taking the steps needed.

Our team of backflow plumbers have been specially trained to install, maintain and test backflow prevention devices and we work Australia-wide.

Understanding the Risk

A backflow prevention device or air gap is used to protect a potable water supply (drinking water) from pollution or contamination due to a back pressure in the pipe supplying the water. Any property connected to a mains water supply system should be assessed and classified for its risk level. This can be determined by the activities happening at your property. The levels of risk are:

High – where the potential failure or absence of backflow prevention may cause death
Medium – where the potential failure or absence of backflow prevention may endanger health
Low – where the potential failure or absence of backflow prevention may cause a nuisance but does not endanger health or cause injury
